When Siblings Become Friends

Posted by Leena Kollar on 7th Sep 2016

My two kids are now at ages (15 months & 3 1/2 years) where they can actually play together and it's fun for them. They love their brother/sister baths, and even though they don't always get along, they sure do love each other very much! It puts such a big smile on my face when I see them spending time together, even if it's just to sit next to each other on the couch and watch television. Sure, there are times when my son gets upset because his baby sister took one of his toys, or my daughter starts to cry because her brother is in the way as she tries to climb on something (or someone), but the love they have for one another trumps all of those moments. Just days ago, they were both having a great time jumping off our coffee table onto the couch. My little man would do one of his big gymnastics style leaps, and my sweet girl would try to copy him, walking to the edge of the table and "jumping" onto the couch with no fear (the table was pushed all the way against the couch, so don't worry, she had no way of falling). I also noticed that she tried to copy the way her big brother puts his head down, his tooshie up and makes a "ready to do a somersault" pose. Seeing both of them doing that at the same time was so adorable! Like many parents with 2 or more children, I can't wait to watch my children's relationship grow. I hope my two precious angels stay best buds forever, and never stop giving me something to smile about!

Do your kids have a close relationship, or is it more like oil & water?
