To Save The Date, Or Not Save The Date?

Posted by Leena Kollar on 12th Oct 2016

When you start planning your wedding, it's usually at least 6 months in advance of your chosen wedding date. There are exceptions to this, of course, but in most cases, you have a good amount of time to work out all the details. But if your wedding is more than a year away, a popular tradition is to send out save the date cards so that people can put your wedding on their calendar before anything else comes up. (You may have received one of these yourself at one point.) Some couples even choose to send out save the date cards for weddings that are happening sooner than 12 months. With all of the technology available today,  there is the option to "go green" by sending out save the date announcements via digital invitation. This is not only great for the environment, it also helps couples cut back on any associated costs that might incur with mailing physical invites. There are other cool options too, like magnet save the date announcements, so that people can be reminded of your wedding time every time they open the refrigerator. So my question is, what do you think about save the date cards? Do you like the idea of knowing that your guests will have plenty of time to make arrangements to attend your special day? Or would you rather spend your time and money on another element of your wedding planning?
