Playing Dress Up

Posted by Leena Kollar on 9th Jul 2014

When my cousins and I were younger, we used to play dress up. Our grandmother had this huge trunk full of clothes and goodies that we dug through and created looks with (albeit outrageous ones). It was loads of fun and it was a great way for all of us to spend time together and bond with one another. We still have pictures of those fun times! I read a quote by Kate Spade recently that said, "Playing dress up begins at age five and never truly ends." I think there is definitely some truth to that. We know that women love dressing up and adding to their shoe collections as often as possible. But even men enjoy looking nice and trying out new trends and styles. So if your kids are into playing dress up, encourage it! It is not just a way to get them interested in fashion and learn about mixing and matching, it is a way for them to use their active imaginations. This is so very important. If possible, schedule some dress up play dates with other relatives or friends their age so they can create wonderful memories that they will cherish forever (and don't forget to take lots of pictures!). If you need some ideas on pieces to add to your kiddos' "dress up trunk," here are a few fabulous choices from PinkPrincess.
