New Trends For Wedding Party Gifts

Posted by Yolanda Huang on 30th Dec 2008

Children are the most precious people in this world. But let’s face it, when it comes to dressing them up in a dress or tuxedo, it’s not the easiest job. Trying to get a child to stand still for pictures, walk down the aisle, or stay clean up until the reception can be somewhat of a struggle. Especially if the child does not cooperate. For example, when my sister got married, her soon to be husband decided to put his 8 year old god-daughter as the flower girl. Turns out the little girl did not like wearing dresses, nor was she willing to practice walking down the aisle. That is, until her mom bribed her with taking her to Mc Donalds after the whole event was done.

There’s better ways to have a child cooperate I believe. Why not give them a gift as a “thank you,” for being in the wedding? Lately, I’ve noticed that this is what some brides do to keep the child happy and cheerful throughout the whole event. For instance, why not give them a shirt saying they’re part of the wedding party as well. Why should the grown ups get all the fun stuff? Little kids love to stand out and be center of attention. Giving them a “Flower Girl” shirt not only tells them what role they have, but it will make them feel more involved in the wedding. Or rather than just giving the flower girl a basket and petals, why not give her, her OWN hand bag that says “Flower Girl” on there?

Let’s not forget about the little men in the party. Giving them a ring bearer coloring book, will keep them entertained during the pre-wedding madness. Not only will they have pages to color, but also learn the names of the items that will be used during the ceremony. As cute as the ring bearer may look in his tuxedo, it might not always be the most comfortable thing for him during those summer weddings. Why not try something new? For example, instead of having him complain about wearing pants and a jacket in 90 degrees weather, dress him up in a Eton and Short set. Not only is it comfortable, but you won’t have to worry about him wanting to take the jacket off mid ceremony or have him crying because it’s too hot for him. Most of our styles come with a matching hat, to block the sun off their face for outdoor weddings. Not only is it affordable, but it’s also starting to become the new “it” thing for little men to wear.

Planning a wedding may be hectic and stressful, but let’s try to take some time out of that busy schedule to thank and appreciate the little helpers in the party as well. Just because it’s not their day to shine, doesn’t mean they can’t have the spotlight for that one minute in their lovely outfit.
