Mixing & Matching & Layering For Fall

Posted by Leena Kollar on 1st Oct 2014

Fall is not just about the changing of leaves. It is about the changing of wardrobes. And this year, those changes include creating looks that use layers, use a mixture of textures and combine dressy pieces with casual pieces. This fall is all about running the gamut with our fashion choices, and that goes for our kiddos too. Girls in particular have lots to work with- leggings, tights, vests, kimonos- so the possibilities for creating trendsetting outfits for fall are pretty much endless. The nice thing about fall fashion is that you can play around with so many different pieces, and many of them can even be pulled from your summer, spring or winter wardrobes. In places where the weather fluctuates, this is especially nice. Sometimes I leave the house in pants and a light jacket, and by the end of the day, I am down to shorts and a comfy tee. But it all depends on your climate, lifestyle and preferences. To help you with ways your girl can mix & match and layer up, I have created three different outfits using pieces from PinkPrincess. Most of these pieces are cross-seasonal, meaning that they can be worn again for ensembles in other seasons. You might even get some inspiration for your own wardrobe! Here are those 3 looks. Which one is your favorite?

This look combines different textures with the denim jacket and knit sweater, and different styles with the western boots and feminine skirt. The tights and boots could totally be worn with other winter outfits, and the skirt would be lovely in spring or summer. Pieces in this outfit:
This outfit is fun and casual. The waistcoat would work great with other winter pieces, and the sequin shoes would be fun with a dress or a skirt. For days that are chilly yet sunny, this shirt would look cute with a denim skirt or bermuda shorts. Pieces in this outfit:
