Beauty Treatments NOT to Get Right Before Your Wedding

Posted by Leena Kollar on 18th Feb 2015

On your wedding day, you want to look good. You want to do yourself up a bit more than usual while staying true to who you are. And for many women, this means getting beauty treatments to enhance their appearance. There is nothing wrong with treating yourself to a day of beauty and pampering. However, there are some beauty treatments that you want to get well before the week of your wedding. You want to look fresh, but  you also need to leave room for possible beauty mishaps. Just as there is risk in traveling right before your wedding, there is risk in getting certain things done to yourself.

Some of the beauty treatments to avoid getting the week of your wedding include:
  • A haircut or hair color. Don't do anything drastic to your hair right before your wedding. Even though it is unlikely that your cut or color will turn out to be a disaster, you don't want to risk it. Make your appointment at least a week before your wedding, so you'll have time to do damage control if needed.
  • A leg wax, or any other body waxing. Your skin can usually recover from redness due to waxing within a couple of days, but in the event that your skin has a bad reaction, you don't want to risk having redness or scarring right when you are about to walk down the aisle.
  • Teeth whitening. It's great to have pearly whites for your wedding day, but don't get them whitened the week of. If they turned out too white, or worse, if they turned a different color, you would have to keep your mouth closed for your entire wedding. Give your teeth some time to settle before your big day.
  • A tan. Don't get any kind of tan right before your wedding. If it turned out too dark, or too orange, or too anything else, that takes a long time to recover from and is not an easy fix. Give yourself some time to let the tan even out so that by the time your wedding day arrives, it will be perfectly natural looking.
Be sure to schedule all of your beauty treatments well in advance of your wedding day. Even though the chances of something going wrong are slim, it isn't worth the risk. You have enough to worry about already. And besides, your husband-to-be loves you whether you get those beauty treatments or not.
