3 Fun & Easy Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for Classmates

Posted by Leena Kollar on 11th Feb 2015

With Valentine's Day this weekend, schools everywhere are sure to be having Valentine's Day parties or celebrations. And this means your child is going to get to use their creative side to prepare Valentine's Day gifts for their classmates. A simple, handwritten valentine is always nice, but giving everyone a little something extra is a way to really show the love, and it is an opportunity for your child to work on a fun project with you. Obviously you want to stay within the parameters of your child's school rules, but if bringing gifts to everyone is allowed, here are 3 fun & easy ideas.

VALENTINE'S DAY BOOKMARKS

Not only is this cute & colorful gift super easy to make, it also encourages a love of reading. All you need are 3 supplies:
  • Valentine's Day colored paint samples (available at your local home improvement store for free)
  • A heart shaped punch (available at your local craft store)
  • Ribbon (available at your local fabric store)
Your child will have fun choosing the paint samples and ribbon, and with your assistance, can make these super cute & festive bookmarks for their friends at school.

LOLLIPOP HEARTS

This easy little project also requires very little to complete. Other than the lollipops (ones that are easy to tape down), you just need:
  • Something heart shaped
  • Pink or red construction paper
  • Something leaf shaped
  • Light green construction paper
Trace the heart shaped object onto the pink or red paper and cut out. Do the same with the leaf shaped object and green construction paper. Tape the lollipop onto the heart and add the leaves to the lollipop stick. Super easy, and super cute!

CANDY FILLED CUPCAKE LINERS

Those little candy hearts are a must-have for any Valentine's Day celebration! And a cute & easy way to give them to classmates is by putting them in cupcake liners. Just fill the liners up with candy and wrap with plastic wrap. Tie with a festive ribbon and that's it! One alternative is to use canning jars or baby food jars instead of the cupcake liners, but the liners are a much more cost effective option.
